Terms of use

The Counting Method · last updated 13 July 2026

The Counting Method is a small, free habit tracker made by one person. These terms keep things simple and fair. By using it, you agree to them.

Using it

You're welcome to use The Counting Method for your own personal habit-tracking. In return, please:

If an account is used to abuse the service, we may suspend or remove it.

It's free, and it's provided “as is”

The Counting Method is offered free of charge, as a personal project, “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind — express or implied. We can't promise it will always be available, error-free, or that it'll suit any particular purpose.

Your data & backups

Your entries are yours. We take reasonable care of them and keep backups, but please keep your own copy of anything important (the app has an “Export a backup” option). We can't guarantee against loss, and we're not responsible for data that's lost, corrupted, or unavailable.

Changes & availability

Because this is a personal project, features may change, and the service could be paused or discontinued at any time, without notice. If it's ever shut down for good, we'll try to give you a chance to export your data first.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, The Counting Method and its maker won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data or profits, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the service. It's a gentle habit tracker — please don't rely on it for anything critical.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change, we'll update the date above. Continuing to use the app means you accept the current version. Nothing sneaky — the spirit stays the same.
